Madeline is originally from the dazzling country of Peru. While at Southeastern, Madeline is pursuing preparation for the mission field. She is grateful for the community that Southeastern has been for her while she is in the US. Her passions include hosting people in her home, trying new things, and being outside.

Jessica Farr

College Admissions Counselor
Jessica is originally from the beautiful country of Brazil. She moved to Wake Forest, with her husband Caden, August 2020 to pursue a master’s degree and be better equipped to serve the local church. Hiking, reading, singing, and going on bike rides are some of the activities Jessica and her husband enjoy doing together.

David Rogers

Born and raised in Houston, TX, David attended Texas A&M University and completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2016. He then worked as a Case Manager for people living with HIV for five years before moving to Wake Forest in 2021 with his wife, Sarah, to pursue theological education. David is pursuing an MA in Christian Marriage, Family and Individual Counseling in hopes of becoming a licensed counselor. David loves spending time with Sarah, doing anything outside (hiking, running, disc golf, spikeball, etc.), being with friends, and trying new foods.

Thomas Smyly

M.Div. Admissions Counselor

Hailing from the small town of Thomasville, AL, Thomas completed a BA in Theology from the University of Mobile in 2014. He moved Wake Forest in 2018 to pursue an MA in Biblical Languages. After completing the MA, he began a PhD in New Testament that is currently in progress. He aspires to instill a love for the New Testament to fellow believers and future students. When he is not in the classroom or reading for seminars, he enjoys intricate coffee, reading fiction, travelling, hiking, and various recreational sports with friends.

Ryan Renfrow

Originally from Alabaster, Alabama, Ryan moved to Wake Forest in February of 2021. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Troy University and is hoping to pursue his Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry in the fall of 2021. His desire is to see people enjoy life with Jesus. He enjoys coffee shops, basketball, movies and exploring new places with his wife, Taylor.

Chandler McLean

Enrollment and Events Specialist

A native of Fayetteville, NC, Chandler recently completed her Master of Divinity degree in Christian Ministry and plans to pursue a PhD. It is her privilege to help students explore Southeastern’s role in their lives as they worship and serve Christ. She looks forward to hosting Preview Day and assisting with orientation for new students. In her spare time, she loves reading fiction and creating memories with loved ones at home and around the world.

Alta Brandenberger

Manor House

Alta is from Lancaster Pennsylvania and came to Wake Forest in 2019. She studies at the College at Southeastern where she is pursuing a Bachelor in Global Studies and a minor in Business. Her next step is to achieve a master’s in Intercultural studies at SEBTS to prepare her for the mission field. Alta desires to make the love of Christ known to others throughout the states and around the world. When not studying and working Alta enjoys traveling, hiking, and connecting with friends.

Chris McClain

Chris is originally from the small town of Monticello, GA, Chris completed a BA in Philosophy and a BS in Psychology from Georgia Southern University in 2021. He moved to Wake Forest in 2022 with his wife, Hannah, to pursue a Master of Divinity in Church Revitalization. During his free time, he enjoys watching hours of college football, listening to a new podcast, and spending time with friends and family.

Charlie Walsh

Associate Director of Admissions

Charlie is originally from Downers Grove, IL, right outside the beautiful city of Chicago. He moved to Dallas, TX in 2017 to attend Dallas Baptist University where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies. He is currently working on his Masters of Divinity in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry here at Southeastern. Charlie and his wife Jordan are grateful for their church, Christ Covenant Raleigh, where Charlie serves as a Pastoral Intern. They love coffee, reading, sports, Star Wars, and long walks with their dog, Calvin.

Emma Hill

From Knoxville, TN, Emma moved to Wake Forest in the fall 2021 after completing her BS in Human Services from East Tennessee State University. She is now pursuing her MA in Christian Education with Biblical Counseling. Emma loves traveling to spend time with her family and baking different sweets.

Camille Doane

International Student Counselor

Raised in Georgia, Camille moved to North Carolina from Athens, GA where she spent several years serving in college ministry and completing a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies from Southeastern as a distance learner. She moved to Wake Forest in 2021 to begin pursuing a ThM in Missiology and hopes to join a church planting team here or abroad in a university city. She loves enjoying cross-cultural friendships, cooking and eating new foods, painting, and running.

Sophie Rhoads

Sophie is originally from Tampa, Florida, and moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University for her BA in Information, Communications, Technology & BA in Sociology! She is currently working on her MA in Christian Education with Biblical Counseling, and has loved exploring the state of North Carolina since moving here in August of 2022. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing board games with friends, and hanging out with her dachshund, Boba.

Admissions – Doctor of Philosophy

The Office of Ph.D. Studies invites all eligible persons to complete the application as specified in the directions on the Online Application page. Admission to the Ph.D. program is selective and is offered only to students who have demonstrated the intellectual ability, preparation and motivation to perform academically at the highest level. Enrollment in the program is limited to applicants who, in the judgment of the faculty, appear best qualified and most capable of using the resources that the seminary provides.

Admissions – Doctor of Education

The EdD is a professional, terminal research degree with a commuter-friendly, modified residency format. On-campus time is limited to one week per quarter, with online coursework before and sometimes after class sessions. Students move through the coursework as part of a cohort, which is usually a group of 10-12 students. The cohort format provides a community of scholars in which iron sharpens iron. Admissions – Doctor of Ministry

The program of study required for the DMin degree will take students no fewer than three academic years and no greater than six years. Entering students must understand the high level of commitment that is required to actively participate in this degree program year round for this period of time.

Adam is from Springfield, MO. He is married to Stephanie and has five children. He has an M.Div. ICP and MAIS from SEBTS and has served as a missionary in both Central Asia and East Asia. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Southeastern.

Equip Network

Empowering local churches and ministry organizations to take an active role in the theological education of their students. Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary believes that some theological education is best done in partnership with the local church. As part of the Distance Learning office, The Equip Network empowers churches and ministry organizations to offer accredited and accessible courses to students at the highest level of theological training. The Equip Network weds the seminary experience with real life ministry opportunities to provide students with the most integrative ministry training available. Students can fulfill their remaining degree requirements through our integrative online, hybrid and/or campus-based classes.

Al James

Equip Network Coordinator

Dr. Al James began serving as the Equip Network Coordinator in August 2017. Dr. James also serves SEBTS as the Associate Dean of Ministry Studies and as a Professor of Missions. Originally from Jesup, GA, Dr. James served with the International Mission Board for 10 years in India and the Philippines. He came back from the field in 2001 to teach missions here at SEBTS. In addition to his various roles here at the seminary, he also serves as Pastor at Hales Chapel Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Dr. James is married to Cathy, has four children, and six grandchildren. He enjoys dating his wife, spending time engaging in his children’s’ sports endeavors, and reading.

Colleen Hall

Colleen Hall began serving as the Administrative Assistant to the Equip Network in the spring of 2020. Before coming to Southeastern, she served a two-year Journeyman term in Southeast Asia. Colleen is a member of North Wake Church and is currently pursuing a Masters of Intercultural Studies at Southeastern to learn to better serve in an international context.

Hannah Moore

Hannah Moore began serving with the Equip Network team in the summer of 2022. Before beginning this position, she served overseas working among unreached people groups in East Asia, specifically among Tibetan Buddhist Peoples. She and her husband, Ben, hope to serve overseas long-term once she graduates with her Masters of Intercultural Studies from Southeastern. Originally from Seattle, she enjoys hiking, drinking coffee, and listening to Bob Dylan.

Walter Bowen

Walter Bowen began serving with the Equip Network team in the summer of 2021. He is passionate about all nations coming to know and serve the Lord and the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry. Prior to this position, he was a Pastor of Discipleship and Missions for over six years in Arkansas. He and his wife, Purnima, have served with the International Mission Board in Africa. Together, they have been ministering to multiethnic communities and people groups for over eighteen years.

Director of Financial and Alumni Development

Drew is a Raleigh native, but also has lived in London and Birmingham. He and his wife, Hannah, are camp sweethearts and have three sons, Reece, Johnny and Oliver! He has a BA in History from Samford and a MEd in Higher Education Administration from NC State, which lead to his sports allegiances of the Wolfpack and the Samford Bulldogs. He is currently studying for his next degree, the EdD at Southeastern.

Michelle Ard

Originally from Lexington, SC, Michelle completed her undergraduate studies at North Greenville University. With a background in international missions and collegiate ministry, she moved to Wake Forest in 2015 to complete a Masters of Arts in Intercultural Studies at Southeastern. Michelle loves to travel, spend time with family and friends, and cheer on the Clemson Tigers!

Jessica Goddard

Development Events Specialist

Jessica has lived in Statesboro, GA most of her life, but has been living in Raleigh since August of 2021. She married her husband, Dawson, in December of 2021 and they are enjoying their time as newlyweds with their golden retriever puppy, Brinkley. Jessica is a Disney, soda, and pizza fanatic who loves trying new restaurants. She loves watching movies/shows or going on walks/hikes but is willing to try any new activity if it means hanging out with friends and family.

Caden Farr

Annual Giving Officer

Originally from Indiana, Caden completed his undergraduate studies at Scarborough College at Southwestern Seminary where he met his wife, Jessica. At 12 years old, his family joined Wycliffe Bible Translators and spent a few years living on the Island Nation of Papua New Guinea. Caden is pursuing his MA in Philosophy and Apologetics here at Southeastern with the goal of equipping himself for a future of serving the Lord. You can generally find him on a hike, in a book, behind a camera, or any sort of social event!

Chris Allen

Assistant Director of Church & Convention Relations

Hailing from Pickens, SC, Chris has lived in beautiful places such as South Florida and St. Thomas Virgin Islands. His family has quite the legacy in Baptist life, and they ultimately led him to Southeastern, driving in him a passion for fulfilling the Great Commission. He works closely with Baptist Associations and State Conventions across the country. In his free time, you can find Chris reading or walking. Once a year, Chris goes on a tour of lighthouses, and has visited over 200 lighthouses so far!

Meredith Cook

Grant Coordinator

A South Carolina native, Meredith came to Southeastern in 2013 and received a Masters of Divinity in Missiology. After a few years living and serving in Houston, TX, the Lord called Meredith and her family to return to Wake Forest and to Southeastern Seminary. Her husband, Keelan, serves as the Director for the Center of Great Commission Studies. Meredith enjoys raising her two children, reading, and writing on her own website.

Sofia Morales

Administrative Assistant

Sofia has worked for SEBTS in various capacities since 2018. She and her husband have been married since May of 2021 and met while serving with a ministry organization in Reynosa, Mexico. She is a lover of the little things and a self-proclaimed “Everyday Adventurer”. She strives to see the beauty in the day-to-day of life. From breakfast pizza and late night coffee to kitchen floor conferences and last minute DIY, she is always up for doing whatever the moment calls for.

Tanner Keen

Tanner is originally from West Virginia, where he attended Marshall University and received his BA in Political Science. Marshall is also where he met his wife, Delaney. They moved to Wake Forest, NC after their wedding for Tanner to begin his M.Div at SEBTS. Tanner is very close with his family and loves spending time around his friends. He has cheered for Virginia Tech football since before he could talk, and his love for the Hokies has become one of his biggest personality traits. In his free time, Tanner enjoys reading a book, playing Disc Golf, making music, and eating ice cream.

Dave Phillips

Director of Student Resources and Financial Aid
Dave has been working in the Student Resources and Financial Aid office since 2019 and became the Director of the office in December 2021. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at the College at Southeastern. He and his wife Julie have been married for 19 years and their daughter, Annabelle, is 13. Originally from Wheaton, Illinois, Dave has lived in Wake Forest since 2013 and graduated from Southeastern with a PhD in Biblical Studies. Dave is a nerd and loves fantasy and science-fiction (especially Star Wars), playing basketball, smoking meat, and he will gladly sit down to talk about the book of Revelation.

Chris Biggers

Associate Director of Student Resources and Financial Aid

Chris Biggers serves Southeastern as the Associate Director in the Financial Aid and Student Resources office. He and his wife Jacqulyn have 8 kids and have enjoyed settling into the Durham area after transitioning from DC. Chris is pursuing his MA in Christian Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling here at SEBTS. Prior to joining us at SEBTS Chris worked in marketing in the corporate world and served as a Special Agent in the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Chris embodies Southeastern’s core value of being lighthearted so don’t hesitate to stop by for a visit. Just be sure to bring oatmeal cream pies.

Military Affairs Coordinator

Originally a South Carolina native, David has lived in North Carolina since 2012. He serves the Southeastern community as the Military Affairs Coordinator in the Financial Aid and Student Resources office. David also serves as a Minister at Grace Bible Fellowship in Cary, NC, as well as a Military Police Officer in the NC Air National Guard. David is pursuing a BA in Pastoral Ministry in The College at Southeastern and ultimately hopes to serve as a Military Chaplain. David strongly believes that working out solely serves the purpose of enabling you to eat whatever you want.

Seth Hubler

Institutional Financial Aid Coordinator

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Seth now serves as the Institutional Financial Aid Coordinator. Seth’s amazing wife Anna is pursuing a Certificate of Worship Ministry, and together they lead worship at Christ Church Rolesville. He is pursuing his Master of Divinity in North American Church Planting and has a passion for multiplying healthy churches in post-Christian environments. When he isn’t lobbing stress balls at co-workers, Seth enjoys woodworking, fly-fishing, backpacking, and pick-up sports with the buds.

Trevor King

Registrar

Trevor oversees the Registrar’s office for both the graduate and undergraduate programs. Originally from Oklahoma, he graduated from Southeastern with a Master’s degree in Christian Studies (M.A.) and a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.). He and his wife have two daughters, and they are involved in ministry at Imago Dei Church.

Dalton Kaiser

Assistant Registrar for Graduate Studies

Dalton serves the Registrar’s Office by overseeing academic records and reporting. Dalton is originally from Houston, TX, but spent the last 10 years living in Irving, TX in the heart of the DFW Metroplex. He is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University, is currently working on his Master of Divinity, and desires to do church revitalization and pastoral ministry. He and his wife McKinley are expecting their first child in early 2022 and are pursuing covenant membership at Christ Covenant Church Raleigh.

Mary Asta Halvorsen

Office Coordinator

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mary Asta serves as the Registrar Office Coordinator, helping students with various situations regarding transcripts, registration, and getting in contact with the best point person. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with the desire to write fictional and fantasy books that point others to Christ. In her free time, Mary Asta enjoys doing anything creative as well as spending time with her family, practicing Tae Kwon Do, and cooking up the most random of dishes.

Jenna Burchett

Assistant Registrar for Undergraduate Studies

Jenna serves as the Assistant Registrar for the College at Southeastern. She moved from New Hampshire to North Carolina in 2016 to pursue her undergraduate in Global Studies at the College at Southeastern. She and her husband, Chad, live in Wake Forest and are part of the Oak Grove Baptist Church family. Jenna is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling and hopes to one day go overseas and minister in an underserved region. She and her husband both enjoy reading, music, and game nights and are beginner backpackers.

Katie Hathaway

Assistant Registrar for Advanced Studies and Graduation

Katie serves as the Assistant Registrar for Advanced Studies and Graduation. She moved from Franklin, Tennessee in 2021 to pursue a Master of Arts in Christian Education. She has a background in Sport Management and hopes to serve students in higher education long term. Katie enjoys trying new coffee shops around town, hosting friends for game nights, and serving at The Summit Church.

Will Johnston

Assistant Registrar for Academic Records and Institutional Research

Will serves the Registrar’s Office by overseeing academic records and institutional research. Originally from Louisiana, he moved to Wake Forest/SEBTS in 2015. He has completed his MA in Biblical & Theological Studies here at SEBTS and is currently pursuing his PhD in Theological Studies, while his wife, Kathrynn, is pursuing her JD at Campbell Law School. He desires to change the world by playing his part in the second greatest commission of 2 Cor 5:18-19. Will and Kathrynn are members of Imago Dei Church in Raleigh and love cooking, traveling, and spending time with their church small group.

Student Success

The Office of Student Success at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary exists to offer services and provide resources to assist students in completing their degree in a timely manner. Services include academic advising, academic coaching, academic probation/suspension recovery, and overseeing the expedited readmission process.

Chris D. Lee

Student Success Coordinator

Chris serves Southeastern Seminary and The College at Southeastern by leading institutional discussions and strategies for retention and student success. Originally from north Georgia, Chris graduated from Truett-McConnell University (Cleveland, GA) with a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies before heading out to Southwestern Seminary (Fort Worth, TX) where he completed an MA in Apologetics, an MA in Philosophy, and a ThM in Ethical and Philosophical Studies. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Philosophy of Religion at Southeastern. Chris is passionate about higher education and helping student succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Chandler Collins

Academic Advisor & Coach

Chandler has been a student at Southeastern since the Fall 2017 semester. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theology in May 2021, and he is now working on his Advanced Master of Divinity. He is passionate about historical theology and plans to pursue a PhD in historical theology or church history. Chandler serves his local church as the College Sunday School teacher, and he loves working in academic administration and academic development of students—working as an Academic Coach in Southeastern’s Student Life Office for three years, and now working as an Academic Advisor for Student Success. Chandler is here to assist you in your academic needs!

Facilities management helps Southeastern steward what we have been blessed with institutionally by use of various trades. Security

The Department of Campus Security exists to maintain a safe and secure campus environment and to protect the institution’s assets in order to facilitate Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary's mission. To meet this mission, we employ Security Officers to monitor our campus 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year, including nights, weekends and holidays. Campus Security also works closely with the Wake Forest Police Department, the Wake Forest Fire Department and Wake County EMS to ensure fast responses to any needs or emergencies that might arise on Southeastern's campus.

Assistant Dean to Students for Women and Director of Graduate Life

Missie Branch serves as Asst. Dean of Students to Women and Director of Graduate Life at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in NC. She is also currently a student there completing her graduate degree in Ethics, Theology, and Culture. Missie is married to Duce Branch and together they have four children. She is passionate about women seeing themselves as theologians and disciples first. Missie is a contributing author to The Whole Woman: Ministering to Her Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength and the co-host of the Women & Work Podcast. Currently, Missie is serving as the Chair of the Board Trustees at Lifeway Christian Resources.
