2023-2024 House Champion Announced

This past weekend, the houses of The College at Southeastern engaged in fierce competition, each rivaling to gain the title of 2023-2024 house champion. The house tournament weekend, composed of two elements – humanities day and field day – was the culmination of months of dedicated work and collaboration.
Throughout the fall and spring semester, students competed in competitions co-hosted by the five houses. United together around the mission of The College, houses Fuller, Schaeffer, Brainerd, Judson, and Liele cultivated greater community and friendship within and amongst their houses as they sought to make the love of Jesus known to their neighbors and around the world. In addition to the friendly rivalry of house competitions, students also engaged in events such as the fall retreat, Going Fridays, monthly house calibrates, the fall festival, and a mission trip to Clarkston, Georgia.
As the spring semester drew to a close, so did the battle for the house cup. After a week of serious competition and building anticipation, the results are finally in. Entering humanities week, Liele house was the contender to beat, holding a lead of over 230 points. During humanities day, previous tournament champion, Judson house, swept the artistic and literary competitions despite remaining at the bottom of house rankings throughout most of the year. It was Schaeffer house, however, that brought the greatest challenge, winning Friday night trivia and dominating the next morning at field day. Houses Fuller and Brainerd also took home their share of the points, and it was uncertain how the numbers would play out by the end of the day.
That Saturday night, students arrived for the tournament banquet with great anticipation and excitement. After a celebratory meal and an evening of reflection on the memories and achievements of the school year, the 2023-2024 house champion winner was finally announced. Liele house proved victorious and took home the winning title of tournament champion. It was a joyous occasion for Liele members who had long awaited this moment. They had worked hard for the victory and persevered in demonstrating their house core values of delight, service, and devotion.
