Military Affairs

“Discipling, training, and caring for our military community is incredibly strategic for long term global Gospel impact.  These are men and women who are being sent by our Nation’s military into communities all over the globe.  Our hope is to build a welcoming, strategic and caring community for our military men and women who are training for chaplaincy, on active duty anywhere in the world, serving in our reserve corps, or transitioning out of the military.” Dr. Mark Liederbach, Dean of Students,

“Southeastern now provides one of the best military discounts in theological education! This is a school that understands the sacrifice that our freedom cost Jesus. As a result, they want to recognize the warriors that have sacrificed for our country.”—Jeff Struecker

The Military rate provides veterans and active service members at Southeastern with a discount equal to the scholarship provided by the Southern Baptist Scholarship. Once applied, the student’s tuition cost will be $366 per credit hour, discounted from the standard rate of $729 per credit.

  • To qualify for the discount, a student must be an active-duty, honorably-discharged, or other than dishonorably-discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Southeastern military students receiving the Southern Baptist discount are not eligible. Spouses and dependents are also ineligible. In order to apply for this rate, fill out the Military Rate Request Form.

  • Tuition Assistance
    • Southeastern does not accept federal Tuition Assistance (TA). This will not affect GI Bill benefits, which are processed through the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

The College at Southeastern is thankful for our students and their families who are part of the military community. Whether military veterans or serving today in an active or reserve capacity, our military community contributes diverse life, ministry, and work experiences to Southeastern.  To show our appreciation and to cultivate connection and fellowship, Southeastern holds Military Community events throughout the academic year.

The Military Affairs office has developed strategic relationships and conducted valuable research by which they can assist graduates of the College at Southeastern, students, and prospective students to connect with Military Chaplaincy opportunities.
