Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Information

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) received funding from the Federal Government due to the impact of COVID-19. At least 50 percent of the funds had to be used to provide emergency financial aid grants to students. The rest of the funds could be used for institutional needs that were associated with coronavirus including lost revenue, reimbursement for expenses already incurred, technology costs associated with a transition to distance education, faculty and staff trainings, and payroll.

SEBTS signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to the U.S. Department of Education on April 21, 2020. An additional certification was not required to receive Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds under CRRSA or ARP. SEBTS used no less than 50 percent of the funds received under section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
