The College at Southeastern Student Q&A

Nelson Joway

Major: Pastoral Ministry

Year in School: Junior

What has been one of your most memorable experiences at Southeastern so far?

One of my most memorable experiences at Southeastern happened when the Lord led me to start a prayer group on campus, where people can come and pour their hearts out to God for their generation, school and nation.

How are you hoping to serve the church and fulfill the Great Commission?

God is preparing me to preach and carry out his gospel to those who have never heard it before, and to those who have heard it but have never truly believed.

Which classes have most equipped and encouraged you to do this?

Honestly, every class that God has allowed me to take has equipped me in some way to carry out his Word. For instance, I took intro to computers last year, and I thought I would never be able to use it. However, I ended up using what I learned from that class to assist a friend who did not know how to use a certain program on her laptop, and by helping her I was able to show God’s love.

How has the local church played a vital role in your spiritual growth?

My local church has been a place where I can go to get encourage through love and God’s Word.

What would be your encouragement to students who are considering Southeastern?

If you want to not only be challenged academically and to think critically, but also to be challenged and grow in your faith in Jesus Christ, then Southeastern is a place for you!
